The Carpenters Estate Art Trail has officially launched, one of several Meanwhile projects

Posted 02 August 2024

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of a vibrant art trail weaving around the Carpenters Estate, a Meanwhile project brought to life through the creativity and collaboration of residents and friends of the estate, alongside the talented team at Co-Creative Connection.

This stunning series of murals spans 1250 metres, transforming the estate's pathways into a living canvas that reflects the rich history, culture, and spirit of the community. Each mural tells a unique story, celebrating the voices and identities of those who call Carpenters Estate home.

As we transition into the eagerly anticipated first stage of the regeneration, the art trail serves as a reminder of Populo Living and Newham Council’s commitment to enhancing the living environment for all residents. With the community in mind, our plans for this first phase include the development of a new community centre, office spaces, a café, and enhanced facilities to support the estate’s vital foodbank and community wealth building initiatives.

The Art Trail was officially unveiled this week with walking tours for residents, friends and local councillors, an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the creativity and collaboration that make this project unique.

We extend our deepest gratitude to artist Rose Hill of Co-Creative Connection for her dedication and expertise in guiding this collaborative effort, supporting residents to design and deliver the artworks. Co-Creative Connection’s partnership with the residents of Carpenters Estate has resulted in an impactful work of public art.

Local Newham residents are welcome to visit Carpenters and follow the painted footprints or find out more about Co-Creative Connection’s work at https://www.cocreativeconnection.com
